Ferdinand II (Archduke of Austria) Silver Taler – Hall Mint

Impressive large silver Thaler from the Holy Roman Empire under Archduke Ferdinand II (later Emperor), struck at the renowned Hall Mint in Tyrol. These heavy thalers were key trade coins of the era.

Obverse: Armored half-length bust right of Ferdinand II, holding scepter, with legend “FERDINANDVS D G ARCHIDVX AVSTRIAE” etc.

Reverse: Crowned quartered coat of arms with Tyrolean elements, surrounded by “DVX BVRGVNDIAE COMES TIROLIS” etc.
